See what happens when you climb under the table during dinner and noone realizes you’re there while they are cleaning.  Yes, we finally had to move a chair to let her out.

We had a geat Saturday with nice weather and finally no thunderstorms in sight.  It was so nice outside the ladies decided they wanted to wash their bikes.  Of course we thought this would make a great picture so we ran inside and grabbed the camera and put Trinity right in the middle…..and she got up and walked away.  Should have known better than to think all three of them would have listened at the same time.

We have been drawing fools in the house the last couple of weeks.  I guess you can thank the big mama thunderstorms we have had lately but when I tell you we are knee-deep in drawings and paintings I am not lying.  And they are for EVERYONE, friends, neighbors, mom, dad, nana, papa, you name it and they have had a drawing made for them.  As you can see above, the ladies even make drawings for our girl!

Kyle and Trinity went for a 30 minute run on Monday morning…..this is where our girl has been since she got home!

The ladies have been working on their drawing and coloring a lot lately.  Pretty impressive huh?  Just kidding, but they have been working on their Photoshop skills. 

I think this is the image for the front of the Tinitythepitbull.com t-shirt, coming soon.  I’m serious.  We need a way to raise some money for HOGPR and Paws New England and this is the idea we came up with.  Tell me you wouldn’t wear this face around?  The girl will be famous!  Keep your eyes open, and your PayPal accounts ready!

We took Trinity to her first pool party today, but she didn’t jump in the pool at all.  We may have to try the beach to see what kind of swimmer our girl is.  While she didn’t swim I think she managed to get a hamburger AND a hot dog.  Time for a Sunday morning run…

Ahhhhh…..MEMORY FOAM!  That’s what I’m talkin’ about.  This place is pretty cool.

For what it’s worth, here are my thoughts after Trinity has crossed the five month mark with us in Connecticut.  I’m not really sure I can convey everything I want in here but I will take a shot.  To truly get a sense of what she has meant to us I think you would need to spend some time with us, but for most of you this might be the closest you get.  This isn’t your average Trinity blog post, but maybe the best one I’ve posted yet.

Let me first start out by saying that if you didn’t read 100 days, you should read that first.  That is the background, the reasoning for bringing Trinity to Connecticut, the thought process involved and how it actually happened.  The short version is that we watched this, and knew she needed us as much as we needed her. Her story will bring tears to your eyes and just so you know Oliver has also found his new home and is doing great.

If you don’t know who we are you can check out this page and get a brief idea.  Basically what you need to know is we are a family living in Connecticut and there is four of us (five with Trinity).  The ladies are Bella (4) and Sophie (2) while Kyle is the mom and I am the dad (Tom).  There are pictures of us throughout the blog so peek around and take a look, you’ll be glad you did.

Entering the world of pit bulls was new to us and my original thoughts are conveyed in 100 days but I have some new ones since then.

One of the things we have come to realize is that the learning never stops.  I knew nothing about this breed of powerful dog before we first met Trinity online through Paws New England and Hearts of Gold Pit Rescue in that last week of February.  The world of pit bulls is truly a world unto itself and one we are still learning about every day.  We have read books, researched websites, talked to people on the phone and tried to learn as much as possible about the breed as we can in the last five months.  We know the term pit bull is generic and not a real breed, and we also have learned about BSL and how many uneducated people are out there making decisions for us without having all the facts.  In the same light we have learned all about fighting and know that when Trinity came to us she was most likely a former fighting dog, and had the scars to prove it.  The thing that keeps coming to mind when I look at those pictures is that some times People Just Suck, but fortunately our girl was smart enough to run away and know that she had a home waiting for her somewhere.  Little did she know that home had snow!  While some people suck, there are hundreds and thousands that do not.  Those are the people of rescues, the foster homes, the forever homes and those who simply want to help, they are about as far from sucking as possible!  Did you know this blog even existed?

We have thanked those who helped bring us Trinity countless times on here but truly it probably isn’t enough.  There were lots of people on that list and you all know who you are.  We say thank you again, hoping that we have made a little difference in your world in the last five months.   Bringing us Trinity has made us a family again and has done wonders for us that most of you will never know.

Personally I have learned that I don’t know everything.  I know, big surprise.  But I think it was a little awakening for me.  I had the original thoughts that most have.  A pit bull?  What are you crazy?  Do you know anything about them?  The answer was yes, from my wife, and it turns out I didn’t know what I was talking about.  Yes, I’d read the articles on CNN and seen the pictures on the news, but that isn’t the whole story.  The whole story requires being a responsible owner, the pack leader and just using good old common sense.  The whole story requires understanding your dog and how powerful she can be, and I’m not just talking about her strength.  But the fact of the matter is that this has helped my to keep my eyes open, try new things (I eat veggies now too!) and be a better husband and dad (I hope).  See, I told you this dog was pretty cool.

We hear the whispers all the time and I know it is impossible to change everyone’s mind about our girl.  We see you cross the street when we are coming, and even move away from the yard when you walk by.  Trinity sees you too, except she is usually too busy sleeping or just hanging out to notice you’re little dog barking like crazy and acting completely out of control.  Next time you walk by or want to cross the street, I ask you to stop and say hello.  Come meet us, as many have done, and realize that when all is said and done she is not anything like you think, or have read, or in the back of your mind want to believe.    Just ask Josie!

Simply stated, THIS DOG KICKS ASS!  I mean seriously, she is a superstar, and don’t worry, you’ll all be able to buy her t-shirt soon (no I’m not joking).  She is exactly what we have listed in the title, An Ambassador for the Breed, and at the same time a big clown and our third lady!  She loves the ladies, the ladies love her, and she has already changed the minds of dozens who know us about what a pit bull is.  Isn’t that right Nana’s?

At the same time there is this feeling that she was meant to be the one that everyone could turn to dispel the myths and possibly learn something you didn’t know before.

For what it’s worth, she’s done all of that and more for me.

The ladies colored some pictures bright and early this morning, and gave them to Trinity.  Usually those are reserved for Dad’s office….guess we know who is getting all the love in the house!

We get a lot of notes and comments from everyone about our site and mostly about Trinity.  Some people know her and us, some people don’t.  We have neighbors, family, friends, rescuers, pit bull lovers and all sorts of different people who log on.  So now I ask you a question.  What exactly do you think our girl is thinking in this picture? 

I’ve got two great kids and an amazing wife and we have had a great summer in our new yard with our new grill while having friends and family over just about every weekend.  Add this dog and a beer into the mix and I’m not sure life gets much better than this!  This is Trinity’s spot when we grill, she likes to make sure nothing reaches the ground if it falls off!

Judging from the chosen position of our girl it could only be one time.  Time to eat.  And from the looks of it she thinks Sophie is going to sit in that chair right there!

See that bone, the one to the left of Trinity, right there in the picture….see it?  That’s just about how long it lasted!  She enjoyed it, for the little time it remained that is.  Gotta love this dog.
